Soccer: Men lose a close one.

Tuesday night the men's soccer team came out motivated to play against the Enloe Eagles.  The Caps played well tonight for the entire game, but they had no luck on their side and lost to Enloe 2-1.

The game started with a bang.  Two minutes into the first half, CJ Tikvart crossed a perfect ball from the right wing to John Pace who was moving into the box.  Pace struck the ball from 12 yards out and ripped it past the Enloe keeper to give the Caps a quick lead.

Unfortunately, the Capitals were only able to hold the lead for six minutes before an unmarked Charlie Hoffman struck a beautiful volley from a corner kick that Broughton keeper Matt Franciosi had no chance to stop.  The momentum shift was quick and two minutes later, Enloe struck for the go ahead goal.  The Caps left Cameron Burrows open at 9 yards from the goal and he did not miss the opportunity.  Enloe had 3 shots on goal in the first half and they came away with 2 goals.

The remainder of the game, the Caps controlled the ball in their half of the field.  Broughton had numerous shots, crosses that just missed heads or feet, throw-ins on the narrow field and corners that either just missed a head or just missed the goal.  The Caps finished the second half with at least 11 shots on goal and Enloe had none.

But Enloe did enough to win the very physical contest.  Their break away goal was enough to send the Caps home with another conference lost.  It was great to see the Caps moving with the ball and without the ball the entire night.  It was an entertaining game, in spite of the loss.

The Caps loss drops them to fifth in the conference with a 4-5 record, one win behind Enloe's 5-5.  Wednesday at 6:30pm, the Caps host Heritage High.  Thursday night, the Caps will host third place Sanderson.  Please come out and support the Caps this week.
