Soccer: Men play Enloe in first round of Cap8

Friday night, the Broughton men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-2 victory over Millbrook.  The win puts the Caps in 3rd place in the conference, behind first place Leesville and Millbrook.

The Caps came out hot, getting some nice shots on goal early and controlling the ball well.  But the scoring began 14 minutes into the match when Millbrook's Chauncy Cleveland made a nice shot from the right wing. The goal took alot of the fire out of the Cap's attack for the rest of the half.

The halftime break, recharged the Capitals.  The Caps attacked payed off with 21 left in the game, when Forrest Lasso picked up a ball at about 25 yards out and nailed a shot inside the right post.  The ball appearred to glance off of a player in the box veering slightly to the right away from Millbrook's keeper, who was frozen.

Two minutes later, Lassiter Tollison was cutting through the box toward the right post and shot the ball toward the left post for the go ahead goal.  But the Caps were not finished scoring.  Just 5 minutes later, Andre Fortune hit a great shot from the right wing, ripping past the keeper. This goal was enough for Coach Hernandez to send 8 of his starters to the bench and give some of his other players some exciting playing time.

Millbrook was able to score again with 6:20 remaining in the match, but the Capitals held on for a nice 3-2 victory.   The Caps play Enloe at Broughton Monday night at 6:30pm in the first round of the Cap8 tournament.  The winner of the match will play at Broughton Tuesday night at 7pm.
