Defensively, the Caps held the Cougars to 2 runs in the third inning, with Dean giving up 2 hits in the bottom of the third. The Caps turned a 1-4-5 double play in the bottom of the third, Dean to Junior Second Baseman Morgan Buonpane to Junior Third Baseman Cole Bellamy. Bellamy also pulled off an unassisted tag on the lead runner at third in the bottom of the fifth. The Caps 10 strikeouts in 22 at bats were not enough to prevail, but the ladies showed a lot of grit in holding the Cougars to a 2-0 loss.
Next game is Friday, home versus Enloe. The JV plays Wake Forest-Rolesville at home on Thursday.
