Swimmers Upset Enloe



On Thursday November 21, the Broughton boys beat the Enloe boys in swimming for the first time in 20 years.   The team was led by Bancks Holmes who won the 200 freestyle and took 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, and Will Close who won the 100 butterfly.  Many swimmers had best times in the meet.  John Paul Baric in the 50 free and 100 breast, Will Beasley in the 50 and 100 free, Tyler Bryan-Harris in the 50 free and 100 breast, Crandall Close in the 100 free and 200 IM, Matthew Hodnett in the 50 free and 100 back, Bancks Holmes in the 200 free and the 100 breast, Drew Kulak in the 50 free, Jacob Ludwick in the 50 free and 100 breast, Evan Smith in the 50 free, and Colter Carman in the 200 free.

Regional Qualifiers were Bancks Holmes, Will Close, and Smith Moran.

The Women's team took third place in the same meet.  They were led by Adaira Brewer's 2nd place in the 50 free and 3rd in the 200 free.  All three of the relays qualified for Regionals.  Best times were made by  Audrey Boily in the 100 free, Mary Gray Davis in the 50 free, Morgan Denning in the 50 free, Syd Spampinato in the 50 and 100 free, Jane Stonehouse in the 50 free, Cleesie Whittington in the 50 and 100 free and Caroline Willis in the 100 fly.

Our next meet will be the Tuesday after Thanksgiving at NCSU at 6:15.  Admission is free.
