Volleyball Downs Millbrook on Senior Night, Kati Smith Collects 1500th Career Assist

Broughton (18-0, 13-0) defeated Millbrook 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17 in their final regular season home game. The Caps were led by Kalee Vanderhorst who recorded a season-high 22 kills (.474), 2 aces and 8 digs and Katja Ehlers who posted season-highs in kills (21) and blocks (4). Kati Smith notched a season-high 51 assists including her 1500th career assist in the first set of the evening. Grace Youngblood had a season-high 8 kills (.412) and 2 blocks and Rachel Byrd collected a season-high 7 blocks. Tiana Butler added 7 kills and 8 digs and Alden Willis had a season-high 14 digs. Holli Smith a team-high 3 aces and 6 digs.
The Wildcats (10-12, 5-8) jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set but the Caps went on a 24-14 run to claim the opening frame. Broughton won the second set after another shaky start and then found themselves trailing Millbrook 12-4 to begin the third stanza. The Capitals closed to 22-24 but couldn't quite close the distance. Broughton controlled the fourth set and eventually took a 24-13 lead before Holli Smith's ace ended the match.
Broughton travels to Sanderson (13-6, 8-5) on Monday (4:30/5:30) to close out the regular season.
