Broughton (15-0, 10-0) defeated visiting Heritage (12-5, 7-3) 25-9, 25-7, 25-7 on Tuesday night in Holliday Gym. The Caps posted a season-high hitting percentage of .574 (44 kills, 68 attempts, 5 errors). Kalee Vanderhorst was recognized for reaching 1000 career kills before the match and was presented a signed ball by fellow 1000 kill club member Katja Ehlers. Vanderhorst (15 kills, .737) and Ehlers (14 kills, .500) led the Broughton offense and Tiana Butler tallied 9 kills (.667). Vanderhorst and Ehlers also each posted team-highs in digs with 7. Kati Smith collected 37 assists, 2 kills and 3 digs and Alden Willis had a match-high 5 aces and 5 digs. Holli Smith had 2 aces and 3 digs and Neely Whittington pounded out 2 aces. Rachel Byrd had 2 kills and Amber Russell scooped up 2 digs.
The Capitals host Wake Forest on Thursday (4:30/5:30).
NC State will play UNC in Holliday Gym on Wednesday night at 7:30.
