Caps lose a close tennis match to Sanderson 4-5

With two starters sidelined due to injury/sickness, the Broughton High School men's varsity tennis team narrowly lost a highly-competitive tennis match against Sanderson at Optimist Park on Thursday afternoon. The Caps' Blaise Waters won his #1 singles match in straight sets by whipping his opponent in a second set tiebreaker (6-2, 7-6 (7-2)) and Yates Kline held off Sanderson's Hunter Moore at the #2 singles slot by outlasting his opponent in a third set tiebreaker (6-3, 6-7, 10-4). Louis Wooten picked up a win for Broughton at #4 singles when the Sanderson player retired due to injury in the second set after losing the first 6-2.  Going into the doubles matches tied at 3-3, the Caps managed to close out only one of the three matches with Waters/Will Beasley taking the #1 spot vs. the Spartans 8-4.  Jack Garside and Sammy Brock almost pulled out a Broughton victory at #3 doubles but dropped a close one 4-8.

Broughton's next match is Tuesday, March 15 at home against Wakefield. Come out and support the Caps!
