Broughton celebrated Alumni Night on Wednesday, with former Caps players from as far back as the 1980s returning to see former teammates and check out the latest version of Lady Caps soccer.

The Lady Caps had multiple scoring chances throughout the game - far more than Wake Forest - but the Cougars' keeper made several saves to keep Broughton off the scoreboard. Sophomore defender Lucy Krueger shut down one of the Cougars best scoring chances with a well-timed slide tackle to thwart a Wake Forest breakaway in the 63rd minute.
Broughton kept the heat on Wake Forest's defense as the game clock kept ticking down, and finally got on the scoreboard in the 76th minute when Schneider finished off a corner from Krueger to the far post to give the Caps the 1-0 victory. Senior keeper Eliza Taylor, aided by a strong defensive effort by seniors Kelly Ann Evans, Julia Stevens and Lily Highsmith, junior Liza Cozart and Krueger, recorded her second shutout of the season.
Because of a weather postponement earlier in the season, the Caps must travel to Wake Forest on Thursday for a quick rematch with the Cougars.
Earlier, a hat trick by sophomore Anne Lassiter Barnes led the Broughton junior varsity team to a 3-0 win over Wake Forest.
