Caps Men's Golf Finishes Season Strong with 3rd Place Finish in State Tournament

The Caps Men's Golf team capped off a great season by finishing 3rd in the State Tournament solidifying it's spot as one of the top programs in the State.  The team had a strong day two performance to beat out Green Hope and Hough for the third spot.

It was a truly a  team effort with all five players contributing at least one score in the two day event and each player finishing in the top half  of the field.  All Caps players and several former players came to support their team as well on day two of the event which served as a great motivator for the team

Two day totals at Pinehurst # 8 playing from 6,800 yards were as follows:

  • Jimbo Stanley Junior          152
  • Patrick Carlin Sophomore  152 (second day score of 1 under 71)
  • Biggs Hawley  Freshman   152
  • Britt Stroud Freshman        155
  • Hardy Hogan  Senior          156

This  team was young and lacked experience after graduating four Division I Golf prospects. Rather than use this as an excuse Coach Marlowe and Smith challenged the young team from day one to get better and the team responded achieving the following season accolades:

  • Cap 8 Conference Champions
  • Mideast State Regional Runner Up
  • NC State High School 4 Championship-3rd Place

The players will all start their busy summer tournament schedules as they strive to get better and continue the great Broughton Golf Tradition.
