Volleyball Downs Enloe


Broughton improved to 7-0 and 2-0 in the Cap-8 with a 25-9, 25-7, 25-16 win at Enloe on Tuesday night.  The visitors jumped to a 10-1 lead in the first frame behind 9 consecutive service points from Claire Sawyer.  A kill from Kalee Vanderhorst knotted the score at 3-3 in the second stanza before Jade Demps reeled off 7 straight service points to give the Caps a 10-3 advantage.  A kill from Demps ended the set.  Claire Sawyer collected 5 straight service points to start the third game and give Broughton a 6-0 lead.  A kill from Nan Parrish closed out the match.

Kalee Vanderhorst (.357) and Grace Youngblood (.636) paced the Caps' attack with 7 kills each and Nan Parrish (.333) and Jade Demps (.556) each tallied 5 kills.  Demps pounded out a match-high 9 aces, Holli Smith tallied 7 aces and Claire Sawyer posted 6 aces.  Alden Willis scooped up 6 digs and Smith added 5 digs.  Sawyer handed out 20 assists and Sarah Brooks had 5 assists.

Broughton returns home on Thursday to play Heritage (4:30/5:30).
