Broughton defeats Ashley (Wilmington) 18-13

The Broughton Girls' Lacrosse team defeated Ashley (Wilmington) 18-13 at home Wednesday night.
The Screaming Eagles, a very talented team, scored first and traded goals with the Caps for twenty minutes, and held a 6-5 lead at 5:29 in the first half. At that point, the Caps, led by Sydney Russell and Georgia Davis,  scored five consecutive goals to take  a 10-6 lead into halftime.

Ashley High opened the scoring in the second half, and cut the Broughton lead to 16-13 at 4:31 in the second half. From that point, the Caps controlled the ball and both Bailey Burgess and Addie Camak scored, securing the win at 18-13.

Broughton's defense, led by goalie Carson Harvey with 14 stops, played a great game against a skilled Ashley offense.

Leading the scoring for the Caps were Sydney Russell with five goals (all of which came in the first half), Georgia Davis (4), Addie Camak (3), EJ Fuller (2), and with one each Bailey Burgess, Lily DiCaprio, Margaret Anne Warner and Carol Seigler.

The Caps are now 11-1 on the season, and resume play Friday night at home against Wake Forest.

Sydney Russell, Georgia Davis, Carson Harvey, and EJ Fuller celebrate a big win tonight.
